“Hormonal tangle”  

This painting symbolizes for me the beautiful complexity of being a woman. It was quite a journey for me to understand how my hormonal balance works. One week I felt on top of the world, and the next week I felt like I couldn’t see a way forward. One week I could dance on a bar until 3 in the morning, and the next week I preferred to be in bed by 8 o’clock. My husband sometimes jokes that he’s in a relationship with two women and I think that’s really true. 

When I didn’t quite understand how this worked internally, I sometimes thought I was going crazy. But now that I have more knowledge about it and understand my body better, I’ve learned to live with it more. So, I mainly give presentations at work during my energetic weeks and handle administrative tasks during my less energetic weeks. I also take this into account in my free time. So, not too many activities in the evenings during my less energetic weeks, and in my energetic weeks, I plan lots of fun activities with friends. 

This painting represents for me that complex femininity – the color, the flowing lines, nothing is straight, and there’s no structure. A woman in all her beautiful complexity.
